Mem and Zin” is the most important Kurdish classic love story based on a true story in verse written by Ahmad Khani (1651-1707) and it is considered to be the epopee of Kurdish litriture. It begins with New Year festival in which the young people wear disguises of the opposite sex and go out to spring nature to have fun and find a friend too! Two girls and two boys fall in love, but only two of them can make it. The story has multiple facets including Sufi discourse and Kurdish nationalism, loyalty and friendship. It teaches a leader not to obey some Satan-natured men around him. It presents greatness and forgiveness, both in and after life.
